The Webmaster

My name is Lasse Martensson and I live in Delsbo, Sweden.
I was born in 1961 and a l m o s t make a living as a teacher in literature, linguistics and multimedia at a sixth form college/senior high in Hudiksvall after having given up a career as a Latin teacher.

I also have a small company called Gallinago Design together with a friend. Visit our website at www.gallinago.com
I've maintained my personal homepage, The Watershed, since 1996 and it was mainly about Fly Fishing, my main hobby. By making the move to a weblog, I had hoped updates would be more frequent, but spammers and hatemail from baitfishermen have put me off.
For a couple of years I also contributed to www.flugfiskesidan.com and the Flyfishing Magazine that was available for download from that site, but that project is now defunct.
I'm a former member of IFFA, The International Fly Fishing Association, but left when some US members began to send patriotic crap to the mailing list. I now have imposed my own private embargo against the Dubya regime and won't buy any American products as long as the "war" in Iraq is going on.
Other interests include malt whisky & trappist beers, politics & ideas, slide guitar and snus.
People I admire:
• Noam Chomsky (Facts), for his analyses of media, politics and language.
• Bob Wyatt (Bio), the best fly fishing writer around.
• Arundati Roy (Article), for her courage and commitment.
• Iain Henderson (Home), for living at the Laphroaig distillery.
• Ted Hughes (Bio), for writing "River".
• Flyfishers who can catch arctic char on dry flies when they are feeding. Annoying species of fish!
• George W. Bush <:-)- for (almost) winning the election in spite of his severe handicap.
People I don't admire:
• The people at CNN and Fox, for believing that their world is our oyster and that there actually is something called "the international community", which has decided that...
• Other narrow-minded and xenophobic people.
• The low-life spamming scum that clog up my mailbox.
Feel free to comment on the articles and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the site or the fishing.
